Future is Color is the solo artistic practice of Erwin Hines launched in 2020 as a response to the social climate. Through FIC, Erwin uses garments to incite conversation around the nuanced and impactful experiences of Black America, while simultaneously outlining the tentacles of white supremacy and its oppressive hold on society. While his designs acknowledge the impact of white supremacy, the messages and themes are focused on the power, strength, and the spectrum of beauty that exists within communities of color. The goal of this body of work is to create space for conversation that issues in collective liberation.
